Question: Hi Christina, I'm a big fan of your column! With summer here, I always dread the beach as I don't know what togs (one piece) is best for me. I'm a pear shape. Please advise! Thanks. Karen H. San Diego
Answer: Hi Karen:) Thanks, so happy you love it! When choosing a one piece, look for a block darker bottom with a patterned/coloured and fun top. A plunging neckline, triangle, sweetheart and halter styles are all fabulous for you. Think eye-catching! Accentuating the upper half is visually creating a slimmer lower half. Opt for a higher cut on the bottom, as low will sit straight across the hip/thigh area. A higher cut draws the eye up towards the waist. Lastly you could try a simple skirted bottom, that falls just below the widest part of your thigh. No more dreading the beach my friend, go have fun! Christina x
Question: Hello Christna, I'm very curvy on my thighs but have a small waist. What is the most slimming jean style for me? Thank you and I love what you are doing. Bridget C. SoHo. New York
Answer: Hiya Bridget from my favourite city:) Thank you! The flare and bootleg styles currently on trend are fab for your shape! Avoid skinnys as they don't flatter you. By wearing a flare even if small, it visually balances and elongates your frame, slimming and skimming over your thigh area. Opt for darker washes but with no whiskering at the top. Keep pockets at the front clean and simple with no embellishments. Go rock those jeans girl! Christina x
Question: Christina really enjoying the read. I have large arms at the top and wanted to know the most flattering sleeves for me please? I never quite know what tops to wear. Many thanks. Jennifer W. Melbourne. Australia.
Answer: Hey Jennifer:) So great you are enjoying it, thanks! The key for your arms is to have the sleeve finishing at the slimmest part. So no cap sleeves especially with ruffles. If you have standard short sleeves with a feature/ruffle at the bottom, that's ok as it draws your eye down. Just make sure hemlines on any tops don't sit on the widest part of your arm. Bring the focus past that. You've got this! Christina x
